MANY RESCUE DOGS COME FROM EXTREMELY HARSH CONDITIONS

Well we would all like to believe rescue dogs begin their lives at the shelter or with their rescue organization, this is not the case. Like Bubbins, many rescue dogs have been through years of trauma and neglect. When adopting a rescue dog, it’s important to remember that it will take time for them to be comfortable with their new family, in their new home. With rescue dogs, often times, trust isn’t given, it’s earned. Also, remember, dogs don’t speak English or any other human language for that matter. Therefore, you have to learn how to speak their language or find a trainer that can.

RECOGNIZE ALL THE KIND PEOPLE THAT SHOW THESE DOGS THEIR LIVES MATTER!

The world is a busy place, and often leaves us scavenging for free time. Even facing the rush of the day- it’s that person who takes the time to report the stray, neglected, or abused dog. It’s that person who corals the stray and brings it to a shelter instead of letting it wander the streets. It’s that shelter worker or volunteer who provides safe haven and the best comfort they can. It’s that volunteer rescue organization who pulls the dog out of the shelter before the poor soul can be euthanized due overcrowding. It’s that kindhearted donor who provides funds for the volunteer rescue to operate. It’s that person or pack who promises to look after that dog and gives him or her a loving family. It’s the educators, parents and influencers who are helping to spread the word... these dogs lives matter. Many of the people described above played a role in Bubbin’s story. Thank you to each and every one of you, we can all play a role somewhere along the line.

BULLY BREED DOGS ARE NO DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER BREED, BUT ARE OFTEN DISCRIMINATED AGAINST

To say that certain breeds are inherently bad is like saying that people of a certain race or creed are inherently bad. A flower or plant can only grow based on the soil and environment in which it's placed. Bully breeds don’t want to be violent more than any other breed. They all too often end up in bad environments with polluted soil through no fault of their own.

DOGS HAVE AN AMAZING CAPACITY TO FORGIVE

I would wager that most, if not everyone reading this could think of a friend they don’t speak with anymore, for one reason or another. The fact that your friend forgot to call you on your birthday or didn’t invite you to that event is nothing in comparison to what rescue dogs experience. Many rescue dogs are lucky if they are just lonely and forgotten, with the majority suffering much, much, worse. Yet, these betrayed and abused souls like Bubbins find forgiveness in their hearts. Only if we as people could find more forgiveness in our own.

ALL RESCUE DOGS REALLY WANT IS A LOVING FAMILY… AND BELLY RUBBINS

Dogs by nature are pack animals and rescues are dogs without a pack. Packs love and support one another. Whether it’s just you or a whole family, it’s a beautiful thing to welcome a loner into a loving and supportive pack. All welcomes should include Belly Rubbins, like Bubbins got… a lot!

ALWAYS STAY POSITIVE AND BELIEVE NO MATTER WHAT

Bubbins always stayed positive and never gave up, and neither should you. Life will present many challenges, but having the inner wisdom to stay positive through the tough times is how you advance along the path of life. Bubbins always kept his thoughts positive and believed he would get a loving family one day, and like Henry Ford said: “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right.”

THERE ARE MILLIONS OF AMAZING DOGS IN SHELTERS, ADOPT DON'T SHOP!

There are about a trillion arguments against shopping, many obvious, so I will skip that part. The Oscar nominated film, Lion, depicts an adopted son and his adopted mother having a fight. The son wrongfully accuses his mother of only adopting him because she couldn’t have kids. She immediately fires back and essentially states that she and her husband could have had their own kids, but instead they wanted to be assured they did something good in the world so they adopted. There are millions of amazing rescues waiting to finally be chosen, just like Bubbins. Go do something good by rescuing a dog, and don’t be surprised if you find you’re the one that got rescued.

SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING, WHETHER IT'S A HUMAN BEING OR AN ANIMAL

Bubbins lived outside for nearly ten years, suffered abuse, and no one spoke up for him. While dogs don’t have the capacity to speak for themselves, humans do. Even humans at times can’t find the words to stand up for themselves. Prevent abuse and bullying by standing up for those who have no voice, or those humans who are finding it hard to find theirs. Don’t be surprised if one day, they stand up for you in your time of need.
